2026 Balfour & Houldsworth Competitions are Filling Up

There were very few opportunities for golfers to show their golfing skill and prowess anywhere but at their own clubs, when the Balfour and Houldsworth Golf Challenge Cups was established in 1897. For the golfers of the Manchester area, all that changed when two local MP's, Lord Arthur Balfour and Sir William Houldsworth, donated two massive silver trophies to the Golfers and the Golf Cubs of Manchester, which have been played for annually over the past 129 years.
