Chorlton Player wins the Balfour Cup The competition was an 18-hole medal for players from clubs within a 20-mile radius of Manchester Town Hall with a handicap limit of 12. The winner with a fine return of 76-9-67 was Chorlton member Steve Brown and the winner of the best gross with 77 was home player Matthew Merson. Former B and H chairman and President Doug Craig said: "We are looking for new blood to join the B and H Committee with five of the current committee having served for over 30 years. |

Following on from the success of club colleague Steven Brown who won the coveted Balfour Cup Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club Captain Chris Hegarty and his playing partner Victor Borg captured the second of the 2009 B&H honours when they produced a superb winning score of 4 Up to win the Houldsworth Cup. The Prestwich pairing of Craig and Paul Cuthbert were left to take the runners up prize on a cpo from Swinton Parks Kevin Hart and Paul Yearsley with both pairing coming home 2 Up. Fourth place on 1 Up making it a day to remember for the host club Chorlton was the pairing of Stewart and Alan Faulkner. With 14 Two's being recorded it was no surprise that the course received universal praise for it's presentation and quality. |

Houldsworth Cup Winners 2009

Stand Pair Win The 2009 G.S. Lancs Stand Golf Club husband and wife team finally break the monopoly of the B&H Events during 2009 by winning the G.S. Lancashire Trophy. With the first two events being won by members of Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club it was down to Howard and Karen to bring the trophy to the north of the city with a fine 37 Points score in the mixed event played at Worsley Golf Club. In second place on 36 Points were the pairing of Ian and Carol Whitehead from Davyhulme Park and promoted into third place John Clarke and Kim Lawton from the host club on 34 Points. The Worsley course received unanimous praise from all the competitors for its superb presentation and hospitality. |
